Clocks go back: an extra hour and a safety check

Sunday, November 1, 2026, at 2 a.m. local time.
Daylight saving time ends on the first Sunday of November. This year that is November 1, when clocks go back at 2 a.m. and the hour from 1 to 2 a.m. repeats, according to the National Institute of Standards and Technology. For most of us it means an extra hour of rest and earlier sunsets.
It is also a handy reminder for a quick safety job. The National Fire Protection Association encourages people to test smoke alarms every month with the test button, and to replace alarm batteries at least once a year. If an alarm has a sealed ten year battery and begins to chirp, the whole alarm should be replaced. It takes about ten minutes.
From Julie and all of us at Nails Unlimited, we hope your Sugar Land weekend is a restful one. If you would like to spend a cooler evening looking after yourself, we work by appointment and are glad to help.
